Winter REfresh – Skin care

My skin gets very dry during this time of the year, keeping it glowing and beautiful can be a challenge but trust me, it is not impossible! I need to have double care to try maintaining a healthy looking skin, here are a few tips to follow to get your glowing and soft skin back:

– Exfoliate once to twice a week.
By doing this, it will simulate new skin cell production and allow the rest of your skin care to work more effectively.
(See the end of this post for my favourite DIY skin exfoliator, I bet you have all the ingredients in your kitchen)

– Moisturize
I know sometimes we are just too tired and we want to skip this very important step, do a favour to your skin and please moisturize it! Your skin will be thankful!

– Drink Water
Going back and forth from the outside cold and the indoor heat causes constant water loss from your skin. Drink water to stay hydrated from the inside out. We all know the secret magic number;8 glasses a day, minimum!!

– Illuminate
If you want an extra radiant instant glow for that event tonight, trying illuminating body lotions like the Olay Plus Touch of Sun and for your make-up, invest in a natural looking Bronzer, my favourite is Rimmel Sunshimmer Shimmering Maxi Bronzer.

– Vitamins
Vitamin C is greatfor brightening the skin because they lighten any dark spots and give the skin a natural glow.

– A Deep Soak
A nourishing milk bath will soften, gentle exfoliate and relieve irritation, try adding two cups of milk into your bath, soak for no longer than 20 minutes, gently pad yourself dry and immediately moisturize your skin.
An oatmeal, baking soda  or cornstarch bath are also a very good option to soften your skin. Add a cup of either to your bath.

A few of my favourite moisturizers:

1: Hempz Original Herbal Body Moisturizer
2: Aveeno Daily Moisturizing
3: Palme’rs Shea Butter
4: Olay Quench Plus Touch of Sun

My Favourite DIY Skin Exfoliator:
To make this wonder, you will need:

2 tablespoons coffee grinds
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon sugar

Mix coffee grinds, sugar and olive oil together .Rub mixture onto your skin and move in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water and a hydrating soap. Pad yourself dry and moisturize your skin.
